KPMG Gibraltar has announced the promotion of Darren Anton to Director of Gibraltar Advisory and Alena Haralanova to Manager.
Formerly head of KPMG Gibraltar’s tax team, Darren has been with the practice for six years specialising in providing compliance and advisory services including UK tax advice and cross-border structuring for international companies and high net worth individuals.
A graduate in Accountancy and Finance from the University of Hull, Darren also successfully undertook the Common Professional Examination and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law before beginning his career as a tax advisor.
He is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation and, prior to relocating to Gibraltar in 2008, spent eight years at a top ten UK accountancy practice where he focussed on corporation tax working with AIM listed companies, airlines and banks.
Darren’s new role will see him charged with growing the Gibraltar office and making KPMG the provider of choice in the post-Brexit environment.
“Managing change and identifying opportunities will be more important than ever for colleagues and clients alike over the next few years,” says Darren. “I’ve been privileged to work with the highly experienced and motivated team at KPMG since 2011 and I am looking forward to building on that foundation to help steer our clients through challenging times ahead.”
Alena, who hails from Bulgaria, joined KPMG Gibraltar in 2014. She previously worked for one of the Big Four accountancy firms in Sophia in an audit capacity and has experience of assisting a diverse portfolio of clients across real estate, insurance, banking and higher education.
During her time at KPMG she has specialised in supporting clients in funds and funds administration, as well as the insurance industry, underwriting in the local market and in the UK. She becomes Manager in the Audit department.
Jon Tricker, Managing Director of KPMG Gibraltar, commented: “Once again, it is a pleasure to reward talented staff whose hard work and dedication have ensured they continue to grow to meet the changing needs of our business. KPMG is proud of its investment in our people and both Darren and Alena have taken the opportunity to use their past international perspective and experience to develop new areas of expertise that will be of great benefit to our clients. We wish them both well in their new roles.”
