The jury nominated egetæpper as the company has managed to strengthen its position in a challenged industry and navigate through the financial crisis by basing its business model on sustainability as its primary competitive parameter.

“The Strategy Prize is all about honoring companies that inspire others to integrate and work strategically with CSR in their business. I was therefore pleased to be able to present the prize to egetæpper, which challenges the industry’s traditional business models through their well-structured approach to CSR work, proving that sustainability can generate growth and value in business,” said Thomas Hofman-Bang, CEO & Senior Partner at KPMG.

Berendsen A/S and Duba-B8 were among the finalists, which the jury consisting of CSR professionals from Novo Nordisk, Green Network, the Confederation of Danish Industry and Coop had to choose from.

“It was a strong team of finalists this year, and it was evident that the CSR work among the participating companies is about more than adhering to regulation and reporting properly and correctly. It is about integrating CSR in the business and ensuring that the efforts contribute to releasing companies’ potential,” said Thomas Hofman-Bang.

KPMG’s Sustainability team focuses on the strategic approach to CSR work as a tool to mitigate risk and create business opportunities in the light of the global challenges faced by companies on a daily basis. KPMG also hosted a so-called side event at which head of program Maria Kawita Nielsen of the social entrepreneurship project Mind Your Own Business – which has recently been awarded the Danish crown prince couple’s social prize 2015 – and representatives from four involved micro businesses presented and took part in the debate at a well-attended workshop.

egetæpper vinder KPMG’s CSR Strategy Prize
