CEO Outlook 2017 - Nordic CEOs as chief disruptors

This year’s KPMG CEO Outlook shows that CEOs now see themselves as the chief disruptors of their own companies. Disruption has gone from being seen as an external threat to an internal aspiration, and Nordic CEOs are no exception.

CEO Outlook 2017 is based on in-depth interviews with CEOs worldwide, including the Nordics. KPMG conducted a global study of close to 1,300 chief executive officers, asking questions about some of the important issues they face, as well as questions on the economy and their business prospects.

This is the third year we publish our global report. In conducting the study, we interviewed a number of CEOs representing a range of industries, geographies and revenue sizes from USD 500 million to more than USD 20 billion. Learn more about our findings here.

The General Data Protection Regulation brings good news for multinationals - learn how it will impact your organisation

In May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force and it will have many positive impacts for organisations with cross-border activities.

One will be the "one-stop-shop" mechanism which means that multinationals only have to interact with one Data Protection Authority (DPA) across the European Community.

Companies should prioritise cyber security higher

KPMG research shows that 56% of surveyed companies do not pay attention to cyber security in their annual reports. This gives cause for concern.

We have studied more than 800 annual reports from 28 countries, including Denmark, to understand to what extent organisations are using their annual report to inform their stakeholders about cyber security priorities and initiatives.

At KPMG, we are not advocating for a new way of editing annual reports, nor do we wish that all companies specifically address cyber security in them. Our concern is that cyber security should have a high priority as a strategic risk area. However, as our research shows, this is not always the case.

In our online magazine, we introduce KPMG Cyber's research into cyber security reporting through the annual report. Click here to read the magazine and learn more.
