KPMG’s pioneering move into the digital future of procurement
At Microsoft’s 2016 global partner event in Cannes, KPMG’s Global Head of Operations Advisory, Erich Gampenrieder, introduces the audience to ‘Procurement 365 Digital’. The software solution is promising to boost procurement’s value contribution by exploiting the power of digital transformation.
In alliance with the executives Judson Althoff (Executive Vice President, Worldwide Commercial Business at Microsoft) and Reinhard Plaza-Bartsch (Head of SCM Supplier Management Operations at Vodafone) the partners showcase key features of the jointly developed tool:
The solution enables virtual collaboration across functions and entities by connecting the corporate network to the strategic procurement process. This is technically enabled by making use of the entire scope of Microsoft’s communication, social network and messaging applications. Additionally for generating unique insights, state of the art analytics applications including cognitive systems and IoT platforms are embedded along a predefined leading practice process.

With ‘Procurement 365 Digital’ KPMG has introduced a new standard for executing the strategic procurement process. However, ‘this is just the initial step along the digital procurement transformation journey’, stresses Michael Pleuger. The tool addresses a white spot in today’s procurement solution landscape reaching beyond a mere translation of transactions into the digital world, but to transform current operating models and accelerate strategic growth intents.
