At Microsoft’s 2016 global partner event in Cannes, KPMG’s Global Head of Operations Advisory, Erich Gampenrieder, introduces the audience to ‘Procurement 365 Digital’. The software solution is promising to boost procurement’s value contribution by exploiting the power of digital transformation.
In alliance with the executives Judson Althoff (Executive Vice President, Worldwide Commercial Business at Microsoft) and Reinhard Plaza-Bartsch (Head of SCM Supplier Management Operations at Vodafone) the partners showcase key features of the jointly developed tool:
The solution enables virtual collaboration across functions and entities by connecting the corporate network to the strategic procurement process. This is technically enabled by making use of the entire scope of Microsoft’s communication, social network and messaging applications. Additionally for generating unique insights, state of the art analytics applications including cognitive systems and IoT platforms are embedded along a predefined leading practice process.
‘Big opportunities require big partners!’ emphasizes Michael Pleuger, responsible Solution Partner at KPMG Germany. ‘The alliance of Vodafone, Microsoft and KPMG has the power to jointly raise the bar and create the digital future of procurement.’ And there is a need for development! Today, Procurement Managers are well aware, that the effectiveness of the process is driven by the capability to realize instant collaboration and communication with business partners, supply market experts and suppliers.
However, in a time of increasing complexity driven by growing fragmentation of value creation processes and continuous emergence of new categories and suppliers the handling of ever more alignment parties and information volumes will decide about procurement’s value generation. ‘Not properly managing this complexity will leave significant value on the table’ highlights Timm Hemmert, responsible Solution Manager at KPMG Germany.
With ‘Procurement 365 Digital’ KPMG has introduced a new standard for executing the strategic procurement process. However, ‘this is just the initial step along the digital procurement transformation journey’, stresses Michael Pleuger. The tool addresses a white spot in today’s procurement solution landscape reaching beyond a mere translation of transactions into the digital world, but to transform current operating models and accelerate strategic growth intents.
Being at the starting point of a digital future of procurement, an ongoing development of the solution and its deployment among leading procurement organizations is at the heart of KPMG’s ambitions. Therefore we are eager to exchange with procurement managers and experts around the globe to determine joint development opportunities.
