On 16 April 2017, Klára Spilková became the first Czech female golfer to win a professional golf tournament. On this year‘s Ladies European Tour, KPMG’s ambassador has won the Lalla Meryem Cup in Rabat, Morocco.
At a press conference at KPMG’s Prague offices prior to the start of the season, Klára Spilková announced a change in her support team – her golfing coach is now Lukáš Martinec. This change obviously contributed to her excellent start of the season. Going into the final round at Rabat on the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam golf course, Spilková was four over par but eventually managed to beat the Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, favoured to win, by one stroke. This victory not only means a nice amount of prize money for the Czech golfer, but also guarantees her future participation in the Ladies European Tour all the way to the end of the 2019 season.
With the first win of her professional career, Klára Spilková has automatically qualified for both European major championships: the Women´s British Open in August and the September Evian Championship. After Morocco, Klára Spilková’s next destination on the LET is the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open in Barcelona, Spain.
