KPMG is offering University students the opportunity to experience the notion of working for a leading Professional Services Company.

KPMG has been running a Summer Placement Program (SPP) for numerous consecutive years. Through the SPP, KPMG in Cyprus offers the opportunity to university students to discover the experience of working in a professional services environment and establish whether this environment corresponds to their personal and career aspirations.

Upon commencement of their placement, interns will attend an induction course, and will meet their Coach who will ensure that they get the most out of this experience and achieve their full potential while they are on the placement.

Venue

KPMG’s SPP takes place at our offices which are located all over the island (Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paralimni, Paphos and Polis Chrysochous). Interns are offered positions in the Audit, Tax, Advisory or Central Services functions.

By joining our SPP, our interns will gain a significant advantage in securing a place on our Graduate Program as the two programs are directly linked. It is no coincidence that a considerable number of our SPP Interns are offered Graduate positions within our Firm.

During the SPP, interns who are in their penultimate or final year of studies can participate in KPMG’s recruitment process for the graduate positions. The process includes assessment tests, a face-to-face interview, participation in a group assignment and presentation. The work performance of the interns is also taken into consideration for their evaluation regarding the graduate positions. Upon completion of the SPP, candidates will know if they have received an offer by KPMG. 

How and when to apply

We accept applications for our 2017 Summer Placement Program as of January 12th until April 7th.

We assess applications on a first-come-first served basis, hence interested candidates are encouraged to apply at the earliest possible.

Please note that the application form for our Summer Placement Program and for our Graduate Trainee Program is the same.

Selection Process

Candidates who meet our company’s minimum entry requirements will be invited for a face-to-face interview with our HR Recruitment team. For applicants who are studying abroad and will be unable to attend a face-to-face interview, we will follow the process via a telephone or Skype interview. The interview will focus on competency and behavioral type of questions. We are looking for candidates that have the maturity, determination and eagerness to understand how professional services work and who are motivated to learn and to positively contribute in a team.

After the selection process has been completed, all applicants will be informed of the outcome of the process by email. The applicants, who will be successfully selected, will receive additional information regarding our SPP. 

Requirements

University students from any discipline who have completed at least one year of their studies, are eligible to join our SPP. Students who are in their penultimate year of their University studies will be given priority.

KPMG’s minimum requirements for joining our SPP are the same requirements as those for joining our Graduate Program.

Structure and other activities of the Summer Placement Program

Structure of the Summer Placement Program

Upon the commencement of the Summer Placement Program, the interns will attend an induction program in order to have an introduction to KPMG in Cyprus and the main services we provide: Audit, Tax, and Advisory. In addition, they will have the opportunity to attend presentations on soft skills, CV writing, interviewing skills as well as participate in our career event.

Following the induction course, interns will join their teams and commence their practical training. Interns will be assigned to coaches who will be responsible to guide and assign tasks to them, evaluate their overall performance during their internship and provide them with constructive feedback. Depending on the period and the department the interns will be joining, they may have the opportunity to visit clients, along with their Coach or other members of their team.

Furthermore, interns will be required to work in groups so as to analyze and present an assignment.  A panel of people will assess the presentation, communication and team skills of the interns, before they decide who the winning team will be.

Career Counseling

During the placement, interns will have the opportunity to meet, discuss and work with some of the best professionals in the Services industry. If they wish, they may also arrange a meeting with the HR professionals in order to discuss further any queries or concerns regarding their career prospects. Therefore, there is no doubt that the KPMG’s Summer Placement Program will be a valuable experience for the interns since they will gain a better understanding of the profession, enhance their knowledge and skills as well as obtain the necessary insight to enable them to make an informed decision about their future career plans.
