Shirley's experience includes pre-investment consultation, corporate taxation and indirect taxes, cross-border tax structures. Shirley has rich experience in advising multinational companies. She has been providing tax health checks, tax provision reviews, tax due diligence, and structuring and planning advice.
Shirley started her career with professional accounting firms in Australia since 2004 and has experience in various disciplines including tax and accounting. Before joining KPMG in 2007, she worked in the tax department of another Big Four firm for two years.
Shirley is a key member of KPMG’s Indirect Tax Center of Excellence and is in charge of the VAT team in KPMG’s Beijing office. She has been involved in many VAT reform projects for MNCs and SOEs and provided services such as contract reviews, financial analysis and VAT implementation. She has also assisted a range of sectors, such as international goods transportation agency and finance leasing industry, to successfully lobby with the policy makers for changes to the VAT rules.
Shirley is a noted speaker on VAT issues and has presented numerous seminars for various professional associations, industry groups and clients on the VAT reforms in China.
