CCTF is the first independent, non-profit charity organisation in China. Their mission is to care for, foster, and educate children and teenagers in China, especially in the minority and impoverished regions. They have various projects focusing on the education and wellbeing of children and young people. After theSichuan earthquake in 2008, CCTF responded promptly, raising nearly RMB200 million in cash and equipment to improve the quality of life of pregnant women affected by the disaster and of children left disabled, orphaned or otherwise traumatised.

In December 2008, KPMG China reached an agreement with the CCTF to build a community centre in Cifeng County, Sichuan province. The centre is an outstanding example of green building, renewable energy and resources, and quake-resistant technology. It's built with environmentally friendly and locally sourced materials, including processed bamboo, rammed earth and straw bale for thermal walls and roofs, as well as recycled timber for doors and window frames. This set new benchmarks for construction techniques in rural China.

The centre was completed in May 2010. It is being showcased as an example of best practice for sustainable living and environmental protection at the ZED pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo, due to its distinct energy-saving and environmental features. Nearly 30 partners are supporting the project with pro-bono services and management support, as well as donating products.

As a form of sustainable development, KPMG China began organising volunteer visits to the centre twice a year beginning in 2011, in order to provide disadvantaged children with knowledge about the outside world and to build lasting friendships. 49 volunteers from various regional offices have made visits and interacted with underprivileged members of the community. In September 2012, another volunteer mission to the KPMG-CCTF Community Centre will be organised.
