Tax transparency with group requests

Even if the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEoI) is not yet in force in Switzerland, foreign tax authorities already today have the possibility to obtain client data with so-called group requests.

Foreign tax authorities already have the possibility to obtain data of (former) clients of Swiss banks, insurance companies or, for example, fiduciary firms by submitting a so-called group request. While Switzerland is due to exchange 2018 under the AEoI data with all EU member countries, Australia, Canada, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Iceland, Japan, Jersey, Norway and South Korea, it is not known which country will be next in approaching Switzerland with a group request for administrative assistance.
