Manufacturing CEOs ready to lead, but struggling to keep pace in a fast-changing, tech-driven world
Canadian manufacturers are at a crossroads. In one direction lies the decision to embrace industry 4.0 (i4.0) and the potential risks therein; while in the other, a choice to stay the course and clear a path for competitors.
The choice is far from clear-cut. Nevertheless, both manufacturing Canadian CEOs and their global peers are showing a strong resolve to navigate through change in the digital era. In KPMG International's 2018 Global Manufacturing Outlook: Preparing for the opportunities of a digital future, nearly two-thirds say they are "personally prepared to lead [their] organization through a radical transformation of its operating model to maintain competitiveness", while a good number are also placing industry disruption at the top of their agendas.
Yet while the desire to disrupt is strong, mounting uncertainties are giving CEOs good reasons to be cautious.
