Updating the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program
  • On February 16, 2017, The Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (Ontario), announced that the OINP would reopen the International Masters’ Graduate Stream, the International PhD Graduate Stream and the Ontario Human Capital Stream (“OHCP”). Notably, the employer-supported streams (Foreign Skilled Worker and International Student with a Job Offer) remain closed until further notice.
  • On February 21, 2017, the OINP began accepting applications under the International Masters Graduate Stream and the International PhD Graduate Stream. The program also began issuing Notifications of Interest (“NOI”) for the OHCP stream to applicants in the Express Entry Pool. Applications in these three categories are being accepted through a new online process.
  • On February 23, 2017, the OINP had reached its registration intake limit for the Masters’ Stream. The program will resume intake in approximately three months. This rapid filling of the OINP Masters’ Stream, just two days after its reopening, highlights the demand for the program which has been closed since May 2016.
