Saskatchewan has increased its provincial sales tax (PST) to 6% (from 5%), effective March 23, 2017.

As a result, affected businesses should update their systems, including point-of-sale systems, as soon as possible to account for this change. This measure, which was announced in the province’s 2017 budget on March 22, 2017, is part of the province’s plan to expand Saskatchewan’s PST tax base by eliminating certain exemptions and by taxing many insurance premiums and services related to real property real property.
