Charities and NPOs that solicit donations or conduct business in the United States may be required to make U.S. tax filings. With the U.S. tax filing deadline approaching for many Canadian NPOs and charities, KPMG Canada invites you to attend our June 22, 2017 webcast, U.S. tax exemption for Canadian not-for-profits & charities. At this webcast, our joint team of Canada and U.S.-based tax professionals will provide an overview of U.S. filing obligations and key compliance issues for the charitable sector. Missing the U.S. filing deadline could result in financial penalties and a revocation of your entity’s tax-exempt status.

This webcast is intended to help participants:

  • Understand the general provisions of the U.S.-Canada tax treaty as they apply to Canadian charities and NPOs
  • Identify U.S. filing requirements and additional compliance considerations associated with conducting operations in the United States, including the importance of filing U.S. Federal Form 990, Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax
  • Recognize key reporting issues related to compensation, public support tests, foreign activities, reportable transactions and unrelated business taxable income

CPE Credits
