Jim Newton is an audit partner in KPMG's financial services practice. During his over 25 years with KPMG, Jim has served as a leader in the development and training of our global audit methodologies, related to the audit of internal control after the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in 2001. Jim has held the position of National Banking Audit Leader. In this position, Jim held responsibilities for the development of KPMG’s banking audit practice nationally as well as a team of approximately 100 professionals in the delivery of financial statement audit and internal control audit services for financial institutions in Toronto. Jim served as a partner at KPMG’s Global Services Center in the United States from 2000-2004. While there, he led the development of various aspects of KPMG’s global financial statement and internal control audit methodologies and delivered training. Jim holds the honour of being the Chairman of the Board of Diabetes Canada.
