KPMG in Canada
Imam is an audit partner in the Calgary office of KPMG and is also professional practice partner as well as a Canadian and U.S. securities partner. His focus is on the energy and natural resources sector including exploration and production (conventional, oil sands and coal-bed methane), refining and processing, marketing, pipelines and gas storage as well as experience in the, energy services, power, agriculture, manufacturing, and technology sectors. During Imam’s 25 year career, he has served in the KPMG U.S.’s Department of Professional Practice in New York where he was a member of the SEC Practice Advisory and Accounting Groups. He also worked in Muscat, Oman coordinating services to the oil and gas sector in both Oman and the United Arab Emirates. He is a member of the Alberta Securities Commission Financial Advisory Committee, Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (“CPA Canada”) Oil and Gas Task Force, Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers IFRS Oversight Committee, and Advisory Committee for CPA Canada’s Conference for the Oil and Gas Industry as well as a regular speaker at various accounting and reporting seminars and workshops including updates on Canadian and U.S. securities, IFRS and U.S. accounting standards, and Canadian and PCAOB auditing standards.
