Return to Audit

As flexible as your life needs to be

As flexible as your life needs to be

Are you looking for an audit role that accommodates your lifestyle?

Do you have your CPA designation (or equivalent qualification) and at least 5 years audit experience?

At KPMG we know the corporate environment doesn't work for everyone. You're unique and we like that. That's why we've created Return to Audit, a program designed for people like you who are looking to continue a rewarding career, while balancing personal commitments.

How does it work?

Return to Audit is all about flexibility. Work from home? No problem. The summer off? Works for us! Design your hours and days around what fits with your lifestyle and our business needs. It could be working for three, four or five days per week or reduced hours, for example from 9am to 2pm.

We currently have two work-streams to choose from:

1) Blend of training facilitation and audit and review engagement work

  • You will be leading facilitation of core audit programs in the office to our junior audit team members. Learning the training material and teaching it to others is the best way to get up the curve quickly on new audit methodology and technology.
  • In addition, you will be working alongside other lead managers and senior managers for a minimum of 12 reduced work weeks during our busier fall and winter period to support audit and review engagements.

2) Core focus on audit engagement work

  • You will be working alongside other lead managers and senior managers for a minimum of 20 reduced work weeks during our busier fall and winter period to support audit and review engagements.

How we will support you:

At KPMG we're all about taking care of you, so that you can take care of business. Your Return to Audit will begin with a structured induction program aimed at getting you up to speed with the latest industry developments, refreshing your technical skills and seamlessly integrating you into the KPMG team.

You'll receive ongoing support from a Performance Manager and a peer mentor, and enter an ongoing training path with regular check-ins along the way.

"I began my career out of University with KPMG in 2005. Throughout my career I have worked in both the Audit Practice, and the Department of Professional Practice. My first child was born in 2011 as I became a Senior Manager, and I welcomed a second 2 years later. Through the past 7 years, KPMG has enabled me to build a successful career in a way that fits with my life through flexible work arrangements. KPMG has empowered me to be agile with my flexible work arrangement, which has continually evolved as circumstances in my life have changed."

  • Michelle Myers, Audit Partner, Toronto office

"I have been with the firm since 2003 and we welcomed our first child as I was promoted to manager. KPMG worked with me to set up different work arrangements every year. I now have four children and have had a multitude of flexible work arrangements along the way, including hourly, part time for certain months and off the rest of the time. I am now back with the firm full-time and am growing my career as a senior manager in the Calgary audit practice."

  • Heather Steinley, Audit Senior Manager, Calgary office
