On 22 November, KPMG in Minsk held a seminar on IFRS 9 implementation in banks.
The topic of the seminar aroused great interest in the banking sector, since this standard should be introduced as early as 1 January 2018, and the preparation works for the implementation should already be carried out by banks.
The seminar was attended by over 60 representatives of 19 banks, including representatives of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
The seminar was conducted by Ravshan Irmatov, Risk Consulting Partner at KPMG in Russia and the CIS. The opening speech was made by Irina Vereshchagina, Partner at KPMG in Belarus.
During the seminar the issues of IFRS 9 implementation, classification and evaluation, impairment, and disclosure requirements were discussed, and specific examples from practical experience were provided to illustrate the materials. The participants were very active during the seminar and asked numerous questions.
