Number of mergers and acquisitions through the first quarter reaches a record for the period
Mergers and Acquisitions Research, done quarterly by KPMG in Brazil, with different information such as transaction ranking by sector, geographical transaction distribution, share of main country investors in cross border transactions, annual evolution per number of transactions made previously and other comparisons.
Summing 210 transactions completed throughout this year’s first three months, the number of mergers and acquisitions for the period has registered a record. Besides, in comparison to last year’s same period, the sector has shown a growth of 10.5%.
The progress in the negotiations was led by the recovery of domestic operations, which increased 36.5% compared to the first three months of last year, going from 63 to 86 transactions.
Generally, we have had a heated market, in a better scenario than last year’s first quarter, mainly because Brazilian companies have increased their appetite for acquiring business established in Brazil.
