She has been with KPMG since 1997 and became Partner in October 2009. During the years, she has led various teams performing complex audit engagements for both local and international clients. She has over 15 years of extensive experience in the audit of financial statements prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Bulgarian GAAP, including consolidation of complex holding structures. As Head of KPMG’s Risk Consulting practice in Bulgaria, Maria has managed a wide range of assignments related to internal audit, evaluations and testing of internal controls, regulatory compliance reviews, including SOX compliance projects, and contract compliance. Her expertise also includes projects related to forensic services, including fraud risk management, dispute advisory services and fraud and misconduct investigations for companies operating in various industries. Maria leads the provision of accounting advisory services, comprised of compilation of financial information, conversions, complex accounting treatment, post-acquisition support and regulatory accounting.
