FS Regulatory Developments – April 2018

April has been a quieter month than March as regards new legislative proposals, but we have seen some key updates from the regulators. Last week, we heard from top policy makers and business leaders at Eurofi's High-level seminar, where Michel Barnier shared his latest views and thinking. You can read his speech here.

We also look at the implications of the long-awaited Basel Committee consultation paper on Revisions to the Minimum Capital Requirements for Market Risk, with proposals to revise some elements of the January 2016 market risk framework.

Shifting the debate from a pure regulatory focus, we share the latest thinking from KPMG’s head of Brexit for financial services, Joe Cassidy. Joe debates the ripple effect of Brexit from financial services on to other industries, and how the balance of power in Europe will likely shift away from London to other financial centres.

Our other big news is the publication of Regulation 2030 – what lies ahead? This new flagship publication examines how financial regulation might develop over the next ten years. The paper is getting a fantastic response from the industry, and we encourage you to read it and join the debate.

And last but by no means least, is a new report in collaboration with our colleagues in the ECB Office, which highlights the impact of the EBA’s Guidelines on non-performing and forborne exposures.

We are always looking to improve our communication, and we want to hear your feedback, so please contact me or a member of the team whose details are below.
