On May 6 KPMG in Azerbaijan took part in the Finance and Investment Forum, which was held in the Badamdar Hotel with Gilan Holding as the general sponsor.
Vugar Aliyev, Managing Partner at KPMG in Azerbaijan and Head of Financial Services at KPMG in Russia and the CIS, acted as the moderator of the Financial Strategies session, which focused on the major lines of development of the financial market and financial services in Azerbaijan.
The forum also discussed the strategic road map for financial services development in the country, major legislative changes related to financial market and investment climate improvement, and the enhancement of Azerbaijani tax legislation. Starting January 2017, with the aid of changes in the Tax Code, the government policy stipulates three objectives: increasing the accounting transparency, enhancing taxpayers’ discipline, and implementing electronic documentation.
The forum was attended by over 400 representatives of the various financial services lines. During the forum, they discussed all the major financial market aspects and by way of conclusion took part in a Q&A dedicated to increasing the financial professionals’ awareness of the industry’s topical issues.
