KPMG is pleased to announce the appointment of Alice Thompson as a Director in its Management Consulting practice in Sydney from 30 October 2017. Alice will join KPMG as our national leader for cities and regional development.
Alice joins from the Prime Minister's office where she has been the Senior Advisor on cities, infrastructure, transport and local government during a period of significant reform at the Commonwealth level.
Among her achievements in the PM's office was her role advising on the government's decision to build the Western Sydney airport, and driving the Commonwealth’s Smart Cities Plan, including implementation of City Deals in Australia including Western Sydney, Townsville and Launceston.
She was a key advisor in the establishment of a stand-alone Infrastructure and Project Financing Agency in Prime Minister and Cabinet, to apply innovative financing across Government’s project pipeline.
Before working in the PM's office, Alice was economic development director in the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, and before that was a director in Infrastructure Australia and the Department of Infrastructure and Transport's Major Cities Unit.
Alice will be based in Sydney, but have a nation-wide remit in the wider KPMG planning and infrastructure policy team in her capacity as national leader for cities and regional development.
Paul Low, KPMG Partner and Management Consulting Transport & Infrastructure Lead, said: “We are delighted that Alice has chosen to join us and believe she will add considerably to our service offerings in the cities and regional development space, as well as our wider infrastructure and government practices. Her achievements are quite exceptional.
“The complexity of city and regional challenges requires experienced leaders who are able to work with clients and stakeholders across every level, to bring the best expertise and global insight to shape the future of our communities.”
Michael Hiller, KPMG National Partner in Charge, Infrastructure, Government & Healthcare, said: "The appointment of Alice to our national team will complement our current capability in this space and our ongoing recruitment of additional talented individuals to add further quality to our policy, strategy and economics teams in the infrastructure, transport and government sectors."
