KPMG is the only big four consulting firm to be named a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Digital Transformation Consulting and Systems Integration Services 2017 Vendor Assessment (doc#US41523517, June 2017). The distinction underscores the extent to which executives at the world’s leading organisations are calling on KPMG to guide them through the complex and challenging process of adapting and transforming their enterprises in a time of unprecedented business disruption.
“KPMG has not created a digital practice but, rather, a global digital community of resources with a broad set of capabilities,” says Ali Zaidi, Research Lead for Worldwide and US IT Consulting & Systems Integration Services at IDC. “Digital plays a role in almost every project KPMG delivers and all its resources have digital skills with different areas of focus. Consider KPMG when you want a firm where the single largest focus it has is on digital transformation. KPMG is a highly credible partner when you need to have a board-level conversation about how not to get left behind by the forces of digital disruption in your industry.”
“In our recent Global CEO Outlook Survey, more than half of respondents told us they see technological disruption as more of an opportunity than a threat,” says Lisa Heneghan, Global Head of Technology, Management Consulting at KPMG. “However, taking full advantage of those opportunities, when your competitors are trying to do the same, doesn’t happen by itself. It’s about taking on enterprise-wide change to evolve an organisation’s business and associated operating model, as well as the way its people work. We have built a world-class practice around doing just that enabled by technology and we are delighted to have those capabilities recognised, not only by our clients, but by the IDC MarketScape.”
“Every day, we’re seeing that there is a significant mismatch between executives’ aspirations to ‘go digital’ and their capability to do it in the most strategic and coherent way,” says Rick Wright, Principal, Experience Design & Engineering and KPMG in the US Digital Transformation leader. “Clearly, the pace of business disruption is not slowing down any time soon. Disruption is creating new customers and new opportunities for organisations across industries to add value, but only if they understand how far and how fast they need to transform. At KPMG, given that we enable organisations to achieve business-wide digital transformation, it’s extremely rewarding to have our expertise in this area highlighted in the IDC MarketScape report.”
The report also noted that buyers rate KPMG highly for the structure and capability of its sales and distribution model, the pace and productivity of its R&D and innovation, and for employee management. IDC rated KPMG highly in terms of its employee strategy, its ability to offer customers a wide range of pricing options, and the breadth and scope of its digital transformation offering.

IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of ICT (information and communications technology) suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilises a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. IDC MarketScape provides a clear framework in which the product and service offerings, capabilities and strategies, and current and future market success factors of IT and telecommunications vendors can be meaningfully compared. The framework also provides technology buyers with a 360-degree assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of current and prospective vendors.
