Brisbane – METS Ignited have launched the Igniting METS Accelerator, powered by KPMG Energise, to help Australian late-stage startups and small-to-medium enterprise break into to the mining sector, win contracts and grow their businesses.
Queensland’s State Development Minister Dr Anthony Lynham today opened applications to the program, which has been made possible by a grant from the Queensland State Government as part of its AU$6 million, four-year commitment to METS Ignited to facilitate jobs and growth across the state.
METS Ignited CEO Ric Gros said: “We invite applications from late-stage startups and SMEs across Australia to join this flagship industry program. The Igniting METS Accelerator offers founders a unique opportunity to work with leading mining companies, as well to access proven knowledge and expertise to help rapidly grow their business. From an industry perspective, the program will help develop new mining sector solutions, drive greater industry collaboration and foster commercialisation outcomes.”
The Igniting METS accelerator will provide up to eight late-stage startups and SMEs access to financial, marketing, commercial and technical advice to commercialise their products and services and gain additional traction in the mining sector. Delivered by the team behind the successful KPMG Energise accelerators, teams will be fast-tracked through an intensive 12-week program of deep-dive workshops, mentoring and support from industry leaders, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts from Queensland, around Australia, and beyond – all designed to ignite a new wave of innovation within the sector.
The search for METS talent across Australia will include regional workshops in Mackay on 9-10 June and Toowoomba on 23-24 June. These workshops will provide local startups and SMEs a taster of the Igniting METS curriculum, as well as an opportunity to pitch to be fast-tracked to the shortlist for the program.
Ashley Brown, KPMG Australia’s Program Director for the Igniting METS Accelerator commented: “This is a massive opportunity for startups founders and established SMEs looking for business within Australia’s $118 billion mining sector. Past participants have graduated KPMG Energise and gone on to win millions of dollars of business, as well as closing major funding rounds. We look forward to uncovering the next wave of mining sector innovation and helping late-stage startups progress from product to customer to global markets.”
Applications now open at www.ignitingmets.org.
