KPMG Australia today announced that Nathan Baird, one of Australia’s foremost design thinking, innovation and experimentation specialists, will be joining the firm as Customer and Operations Partner working in its fast-growing Management Consulting practice.
Nathan will lead KPMG in building out its Design Thinking capability, as well as the broader Customer Advisory offering across a range of industries.
Nathan has 18 years’ experience in the marketing and innovation industry, both client and agency side, globally and within Australia. In 2014 he founded Methodry, an innovation and culture consultancy. Previously Nathan held several senior positions at Clear, a global marketing strategy business, part of the M&C Saatchi group.
While in the UK he ran global innovation projects for Bausch & Lomb, Nokia and Siemens. Back in Australia he led the development and rollout of a global consumer insight program for Unilever.
Nathan has also worked as a Design Integration Coach to SMEs on New Zealand’s “Better by Design” program. He led the design and training delivery of CBA’s Design Thinking and Experimentation capability programs, as well as the design and delivery of UTS’ Hatchery entrepreneurship program for students.
The appointment builds upon past Design Thinking work that the firm’s KPMG Innovate practice has delivered to clients in sectors such as financial services, manufacturing and government. Nathan will take this work to the next stage, while drawing upon the capabilities and experience of existing KPMG teams.
Ian Hancock, KPMG’s National Managing Partner, Management Consulting, commented: "Customer-centric innovation is critical in today’s fast changing, digitally-disrupted world. Nathan brings deep experience in understanding what the customer wants and can act as a bridge between the creative world and the consulting world. His insight and deep experience in training will be highly valuable as we develop our Design Thinking and Customer Centric Innovation practices."
Nathan Baird said: "It’s an exciting time to be joining KPMG. The rapid pace of digital transformation and changing customer expectations means now, more than ever, innovation has to become part of how everyone works. Everything - from problem solving to process design, technology to sales and customer experience – requires innovation."
Nathan is based at KPMG’s Sydney office and commenced with the firm this week.
