One of the world’s largest business advisory firms has signed on as the Official Professional Services Advisor to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC). Minister for the Commonwealth Games Kate Jones welcomed the partnership which was announced today on the Gold Coast
“The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will be the biggest event in Australia this decade and KPMG will play a key behind-the-scenes role by providing financial planning, risk management, taxation and internal audit expertise to GOLDOC,” Ms Jones said.
“KPMG is the only ‘big four’ professional services firm with a dedicated office on the Gold Coast and will bring more local knowledge and expertise to the Games as the first Tier Two sponsor.
“We are committed to ensuring Queensland benefits from the Games and local KPMG staff will now have the opportunity to gain career-defining experience in the delivery and business operations of a major international sporting event,” Ms Jones said.
KPMG’s Queensland Chair, Rob Jones, who will lead the firm’s Games services team, believes the Games will define the Gold Coast.
“We are passionate about the potential for the Games to have a long lasting and positive impact on the future of the Gold Coast and Queensland,” Mr Jones said.
“It’s a real privilege to be so closely involved with the Games, ensuring that the business of the Games is as strong as the sporting performances.
