Australia's infrastructure is booming, but is it smart? As the country's population grows it faces some critical challenges to maintain its economic growth, social cohesion and standard of living.
Given Australia’s forecasted population growth, simply spending more and building more traditional infrastructure is not sustainable for our cities and regions. We must shift our thinking on how we plan, fund and manage our infrastructure. Key focus areas must be the how we manage demand for existing infrastructure, how we prepare for the next generation of transport such as autonomous vehicles and plan more holistically for our growing cities.
