With the advent of Single Touch Payroll (STP) looming ever closer, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has accordingly been ramping up its client engagement activities to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible for all involved.
As has been outlined previously, STP represents the most significant change to payroll reporting to date for employers, with the ATO set to gain access to employee information on an unprecedented scale.Details of payments made on a real time, per obligation, per employee basis will need to be provided, and will be subject to the ATO’s sophisticated data analytics capabilities (live for all employers by 1 July 2018).
To help employers manage this landmark shift in reporting procedures, the ATO is hosting a live stream webinar as part of its Employer Engagement Forum on 16 November from 9.15am to 3.30pm EDT. Some employers will be attending the session in person to ask questions of the ATO, with others encouraged to dial in and contribute to the discussion. This level of engagement from the ATO is a timely reminder of the requirement for employers to be ready for STP, and is sure to provide some valuable insights.
