In February 2017, the Fair Work Commission announced wide-ranging changes to penalty rates across a number of industries including the fast food, retail, pharmacy, hospitality and restaurant industries.

The Commission has now confirmed the transitional arrangements for the changes to penalty rates for a number of modern awards.

Changes to Sunday penalty rates will be phased in over a 3- or 4-year period commencing 1 July 2017, while changes to public holiday penalty rates will take effect in full from the same date.
