Though it is no longer expected to exceed 2015’s peak investment levels, due in large part to the lack of $1 billion+ mega-deals in Q3, the first 3 quarters of 2016 have already exceeded the annual totals for 2014 and earlier.

‘The Pulse of Fintech’ is a quarterly report created by KPMG along with KPMG Enterprise’s Global Network for Innovative Startups and CB Insights (the ‘go to’ name for insights related to venture capital investment). The series analyses the latest global trends in venture capital investment data on the fintech sector.

According to The Pulse of Fintech, after quarterly fintech investment to VC-backed companies peaked over 5 billion in 2015, investors appear to have taken a much more cautious approach to fintech investments this year as fintech funding fell 17 percent in Q3’16.
