'The Pulse of Fintech' is a quarterly report created by KPMG Enterprise and KPMG Fintech along with CB Insights (the 'go to' name for insights related to venture capital investment). The series analyses the latest global trends in venture capital investment data on the fintech sector and was created as the sister report to the Venture Pulse Report.

According to the report, total global investment in fintech companies, including debt and equity, reached $19.1 billion in 2015. Within that number, the all-important venture capital (VC) component reached over $13.8 billion – more than double the value of fintech investment in 2014. And since 2011, when fintech moved more prominently onto the radar of VC investors, investment has grown by more than $10 billion.

The report also features a spotlight on blockchain – the technology many believe will be the key to the future of banking – to see whether it’s all it is hyped up to be.
