On Friday 3 July 2015, the Australian Federal Government released its Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper and announced a $4bn investment to drive the future of the Australian Agricultural industry.
The Government actively engaged social media to promote its messages. Perhaps for the first time, social media gave the farming community a voice, on a national stage and in real time, on issues that mattered to them.
Two weeks after the report’s release there were 3,649 mentions on Facebook and Twitter that referenced the Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper.
This report analyses the social media activity between 3 July and 17 July 2015, including our recommendations on issues raised by industry stakeholders.
