From 1 July 2015, employers with sponsored employees should be aware of possible internal changes, as well as recent immigration changes.
Where employers operate annual employee performance reviews on a financial year basis, 1 July is often a time when promotions occur. If sponsored staff on subclass 457 visas change duties because of a promotion, a notification, or in some cases a new nomination may be required by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
Changes to DIBP fees and website addresses come into effect on 1 July. Requirements for Market Salary Rate assessments have also changed as a result of a recent disallowance of regulations by the Senate, which will impact on some subclass 457 visa applicants who were previously exempt from this requirement.
We expect change in the sector to be ongoing, with further changes flowing from the 457 Integrity Review to be implemented during the year.
