Migration Newsflash: 457 Visa Integrity Review

The government has implemented the first of the changes to the subclass 457 visa recommended in the 457 Integrity Review.

New regulations which came into effect on the 18 April cover:

  • a revised notification period of 28 days for sponsors to notify of changes including temporary visa holders ceasing employment.
  • amended English language requirements which allow an average IELTS test result of 5 with a minimum of 4.5 each category and
  • the salary exemption for high income earners to prove market rates has been amended to AUD180,000 from AUD250,000.

Further changes will be introduced over the next 6 months.
