Martin is a member of KPMG’s National Executive Committee (NEC), following his role as CEO and Managing Director of Spotless. At Spotless he managed a $3 billion turnover business with 36,000 employees, giving him a deep insight into the experiences faced by KPMG’s clients.
Prior to Spotless, Martin’s career at KPMG included his leadership role on the NEC as the National Managing Partner of Brand & Innovation, as well as being the Global Lead Partner for the large listed clients BHP and Orica. During the preceding 10 years, Martin led the audits of Qantas, South 32, and Downer EDI.
His strengths include public company operations, governance, corporate finance, acquisitions and divestments, business development, restructuring, investor relations, customer centricity, and brand and marketing. He is passionate about sustainable growth, strategy development, and building executive capabilities.
Martin is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Economics from The Australian National University, and has worked in the UK and US as well as Australia. He has two children and is a passionate dinghy and keelboat sailor. His sailing achievements include completing 10 Rolex Sydney to Hobart yacht races.
Martin’s community work has included advising the Kimberley Foundation, which catalogues Aboriginal rock art and advising the Movement Disorder Foundation, which develops artificial limbs and bionic devices.
