National Partner in Charge, KPMG Law
Keeping more than one step ahead of the traditional way of delivering legal services drives David Morris to find innovative ways to service clients. “We are focused on developing new ways to deliver legal services,” he says. “Being disruptive is what excites me; being part of something different, rather than offering what has been done before.”
For KPMG clients the evolution of this will see the delivery of end-to-end solutions through the provision of legal services in combination with other service lines within KPMG and also increased automation in the delivery of legal services. “I passionately believe that this model provides real value for our clients and since returning to KPMG I have already worked on a number of transactions where this model has been utilised, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive,” he says.
It’s an exciting prospect for David, who was involved in the early foundations of KPMG Law in the 1990s before moving to one of the world’s largest law firms. As joint leader of that firm’s Asia Pacific Corporate Practice, he advised on a number of domestic and international mergers and acquisitions for some of the world’s largest organisations.
David’s return as National Partner in Charge of KPMG Law will see him draw on his expertise in mergers & acquisitions, equity capital markets and corporate advisory to drive the growth of KPMG Law.
Outside of work David is deeply involved in the community through his board position with the children’s cancer charity Camp Quality.
David also loves his sport. “I was very fortunate to be able to play for the Australian lawyer’s cricket team and be part of a special team that won the World Cup at The Oval in London,” he says, “but I’m now happily retired from the game!”
