National Managing Partner, Tax
"Tax is interesting…despite what people say," says David Linke. He is on a mission to reform how people perceive the tax function. "Tax is both complex and creative – it’s all about confidence in the overall system, so it feeds into broader confidence around the economy. That means tax practitioners have an important role to play in shaping our economic future.”
It’s an attitude David draws on for inspiration in his current role as National Managing Partner, Tax. He joined KPMG in 1993 and in his current role he is focused on bringing clarity to complexity for some of Australia's largest corporates as they grapple with a volatile and constantly changing tax environment.
He sees his role as being a catalyst for creative problem solving. “It’s all about bringing people together with different points of view and empowering them to work together towards a solution.” David is lead partner on several of the firm’s major accounts and has a wealth of client experience across a range of sectors and industries.
For David, a turning point in his approach to his role was attending a Chairman’s 25 course in Singapore. "It taught me about leading through complexity, which is a very important skill in the taxation area," he comments. "It also taught me how important it is to broaden my vision by bringing together people with often very different ideas to create change."
Previously David was a Board Member of KPMG Australia, National Corporate Tax Leader and Head of the M&A Tax team.
