Risk Management - Ethics & Independence Partner and Chief Operating Officer; Board Advisory Services Partner
Mark Jones credits the ‘safe-to-fail’ environment of his early years at KPMG UK and the opportunities that came with it for shaping his attitudes.
Stepping up to the plate is not something Mark has shied away from. Since joining KPMG Australia in 1988, the safe-to-fail environment of KPMG has enabled him to seize a variety of corporate and not-for-profit opportunities and make a real difference to them.
Mark is the Ethics and Independence Partner and Chief Operating Officer for the Risk Management Group. Mark also provides Corporate Governance and Internal Audit Services to clients. Acting with integrity, whilst considering the facts and circumstances of an issue, are very important to him. Mark is quick to point out that “no one knows all the answers. Consultation is key if you want to achieve the right outcome.”
Mark has been giving back to the community since 1997 and cites raising $15.3 million for the Jigsaw Foundation as a defining moment in this aspect of his career.
Mark was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2015 for his “significant service to medical research through leadership and executive roles in not-for-profit organisations”.
