Partner, Risk Consulting
Michael is a self-confessed tech geek with a passion for innovation. At the same time he brings to his work a reverence for history and culture – in particular the cultures of Asia where he has spent many years. As head of KPMG’s Internal Audit Risk & Control Services in Melbourne, Michael is instrumental in helping clients in the retail and consumer sector create innovative, risk aware cultures with a focus on delivery.
Michael has always enjoyed working closely with customer-centric organisations, most aptly demonstrated by a previous career in marketing. “That whole ‘how do we create a customer experience, how do we create a new brand, how do we innovate and go to market with different ways of thinking’, that’s what I’m passionate about.”
A father of two daughters, Michael spends his weekends immersed in their many extra-curricular activities. However, he still finds time to tune a couple of classic motorcars and motorbikes he owns.
Michael also works as a voluntary member of the Risk & Audit Committee of the State Library of Victoria. “I’m fascinated by digital innovation but at the same time I love traditional literature – holding a book rather than a tablet.”
