Simon Crane

Partner, Audit & Assurance

KPMG Australia

The variety of clients, challenging industry sectors and quality of people have been a continual source of inspiration for Simon, since joining KPMG in 1988.

“The firm has changed immensely and we are now able to provide such a vast offering of services to our clients, engaging broadly across their businesses,” he says.

Simon has acted as external auditor for global corporations, ASX and foreign listed corporations, private companies and not-for-profit organisations. He has expertise in the energy and natural resources sector, and previously led KPMG Australia’s Energy and Natural Resources Audit Group.

He is a Registered Greenhouse and Energy Auditor with the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, with particular experience providing assurance over greenhouse gas emissions and other non-financial data.

Simon is increasingly interested in the agriculture sector and has also worked with countless clients in manufacturing.

He became a KPMG Partner in 1999 and is dedicated to the continued professional development of his team, as well as fostering long-term, trusted relationships with clients. In 2012, he was Chairman of the Queensland State Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

With two children, his weekends are largely filled with family activities. He says they enjoy escaping to the beach or further afield. “We love to travel and always like to have something on the horizon,” he says.
