KPMG is proud to see seven of our people selected by the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation to participate in the Queen's Baton Relay.
Seven KPMG employees were selected to participate in the GC2018 Queen's Baton Relay.
The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) is a Games tradition that celebrates the Commonwealth’s diversity, inspires community pride and excites people about the world-class festival of sports and culture to come.
The Queen’s Baton carries a message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that calls the Commonwealth’s athletes to come together in peaceful and friendly competition.
The QBR commenced its journey which started on Monday 13 March 2017 from Buckingham Palace and will travel for 100 days through all Australian states and territories.
KPMG Australia are proud to see seven of our people selected by the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation to participate in the Queen’s Baton Relay.
We’d like to congratulate the following individuals for being selected to participate in the relay in their communities:
“Carrying the Baton was a wonderful honour. My favourite memory was being in the presence of the other relay participants – listening to their stories of generosity, sacrifice and commitment to great causes, people and community.”
– Bryan Roach, ACT
“It was an amazing and surreal experience! I was blown away by hearing stories of why everyone had been selected. It is something I will remember forever.”
– Lyndal Herbert, Tasmania
“Besides carrying the baton, which is an honour in itself, it was truly inspiring to be amongst so many amazing people, all of whom make strong efforts in the work they do in the community.”
– Catherine O'Malley, Victoria
“My most memorable experience was meeting the other batonbearers. From Glenn McGrath and Leisel Jones, to community volunteers and teenager surfing and swimming sensations. There were also two ladies who had set up and grown amazing charities. One thing everyone had in common was that we give back to our communities. They were all very inspirational people and I was humbled to be a part of the day.”
– Megan Pearson, NSW
